Small but Mighty

The surface of this shop is being increased from 25 m² to 45 m² by using the basement as an additional section for selling and displaying. The room is small and has to be made to seem bigger than it is. The centrally based dowel can be used as a shop window, presentation counter, cash point, balustrade, stairway etc. The paths lead aside, into and around this piese of furniture – therefore the walls stay vacant and the room remains generous.

A gab is left between the display window, which is as high as the room, and the ceiling, so that the
basement can be gazed at and explored from the first floor. Materials and colours are reduced to the minumum: the dowel consists of beamless, leached chest nut, the floor is made of black cement sealed in high gloss, the walls are painted in a refracted white and the various display cabinets are to be slightly darker and varnished beamlessly.
